WOW great response to my call for help guys. Thank you so much I'm glad I decided to go with digidesign's product. I should have told you something more about me so here it goes. 10 years ago I go out and buy a Ensoniq sq1 fell inlove with it. I decided I needed to record my music to show my friends so I got a Tascam 4 track. After that I found Korg products firs the N364 then the Triton and now the Karma. After "crying" so much about the lousy sound of the tape 4 track my darling wife knowing my love for Korg products goes out last Christmas and withought me knowing ( I love her) gets me a KOrg D1600 DAW. That's when I started reading alote about mastering and mixing and mic's and pre amps. The D1600 is very cool and it does have compression in it's final efx but after some research I decided that computer recording is the thing to do. The digi002 was the best thing I could find It gives me great softwear (ptle) a interface and a great looking and very functional contraol surface. Any other system I would have to be dealing with all kinds of issues like latency and compatibility I didn't want that I already have enough things to think about. I am using a AT4043 mic and the drummer in the band uses Roland V-Drum so we go right into the DIGI no mic's needed I use the AT mic for the bass player. A few months ago we had a little break after listening to one of our cd's ( recorded on the D1600) they decided to play one of our songs one thing leads to another and I'm going from My room (studio) to a live performance coming up NOvember 2nd. I downloaded Photoshop for free from the adobe web site used it to make art work for the cd had it copyed and here we go. Has you can see I have no problem learning from others, I'm very resorcefull and I love being creative, but I know one thing for sure and that is that I don't know everything so in come you wonderfull people. I thank you guys so much you will be earing a lot more questions from me but for now I thank you for your generous help. Mane

RE: Home Studio 2

I remember when I was young. Such enthusiasm, I had the world by the tail and a future so bright I required some sort of eyewear. Then I was cast upon the rocks of woe. Cut and scraped and battered I have yet to recover. So while the prognosis of recovery is dim I bought a 001. Here I am ... playing with those memories again ... and just when I thought time had set me free, those thoughts of you keep taunting me ...... I need more scotch. sniff

2 years into my first DAW system and I'm still excited everytime I sit down to make something new. Mane... how do the V-drums work out for your drummer? I've been years without my acoustic kit (damn apartment living) and was thinking of picking up a Club-V set to start recording again. Does your drummer find the transition back-and-forth from electronic to acoustic pretty smooth? And does he or you find the sounds "not too cheesy"?

RE: Home Studio 2

We love the V-Drums He does have an acustic set at home he practices in but at our little studio and when we play live he uses the V-Drums. The reason is simple( I'm getting open for some more messed up comments) we are not very expirenced musicians so with the V-Drums you don't have to mic everything you get a L and a R output plug it to the mixer your ready to go.The sounds are very nice on the roland stuff and I know I'm not alone on that. We have been listening to a lot of bands in small clubs and of about 30 bands we have seen 6 with V-Drums. They sound great and the truth is you don't have to bang that hard. Crap I know drumers like to bang hard. No pun intended. Thanks guys have fun Mane
