Hello This is a general request for help. I'm struggling with Reaper. Despite many hours messing around, I have had limited success and have failed to get it set up to work for me. I am considering uninstalling the entire thing and then downloading again in order to be sure I am beginning from scratch and not loading the current settings. Would this delete my licence? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated... Regards Dean
Welcome :) You can install as a "portable" version into a folder somewhere. That will work just like the regular install for our purposes allowing you to not have to mess with the original install. Then when done with that portable version you can just delete the folder. Also, a short description of just where you are having problems would be helpful for those reading the thread. Lastly the license is just a file, so if you have that original file from your email from cockos, you can import it at will as needed into Reaper.
Hello deantuhka and welcome to these forums. You'll find many helpful people here and a lot of useful information. Make sure that you: get the excellent User Guide by Nicholas too: and check out Kenny Gioia's great video series: Let's go right back to basics: -- what experience do you have of DAWs and recording and plug-ins and MIDI? -- what do you want to so with Reaper? -- what is the first (simple) thing that you would like to do?
Hi Dean My five cents; I am relatively new to Reaper too, and recognise your feeling, but once you understand the big picture the learning curve gets much easier. My two tips: right click is your friend. Often what you are looking for is in a menu that pops up when you right click the item that you try to edit. I got into a habit of googling whatever I wanted, for instance: 'Reaper create subgroups' Normally within 5 minutes I would find an answer in this great forum somewhere. I made a text doc where I pasted all these solutions, and that I keep as a reference. Other tips: search in the actions menu for stuff you want to do. When you like a command then assign it to a key command or create a button. Good luck, Reaper is worth it! Dan
