can i mix down like this then bounce?is it proper?

hey i'm still somewhat of a newbie when it comes to technique and mixing and am gaining knowledge as i go. i was wondering if this is a proper way to do things. when i am completely done my mix, applying plugins to tracks and busses (which certain tracks are routed to as well) and am 100% happy with it, is it proper to send the master fader's output to a stereo audio track and record the mix to that stereo audio track? this way i could deactivate all of the tracks except for that mixdown track for an easy bounce to disk without any stop playbacks and such. and also, if i want to apply a multi dynamics plugin (compression and such) to the entire mix is it proper to apply it to the master fader or would it be more proper to send the master fader to a stereo aux track and apply the plugin to that aux track and bring its fader up to a fitting level under the mix but not completely? hopefully these 2 questions make sense. i would appreciate some help on this. thanks a lot. cheers

"Proper" is however you get it to sound like you want it to..... Which shouldn't be confused with "most efficient" and "how everyone else does it". Though the latter two can be great "starting" points.
