Sub out of sync DVD

Hi! I'am trying to add a subtitle to a DVD. I have tried all the possible ways described here. Adding the subtitle was successful but my sub is out of sync. The DVD is NTSC and has no subtitle track so I can't get timestamps. But I can't load VOB's into sutbtitle Workshop to adjust the subtitle. How can I load VOBs into SW? Or how can i syncornice subtitles? Wgich frame reate should I use fot he sub? 23.976 or 29.7? Thanx in forward!

RE: Sub out of sync DVD

You can load VOBs in SW for preview, but be aware that you'll lose synch eventually as you toggle forward and backwards, so it isn't very handy really. Using FPS 23.976 or 29.97 is exactly the same, so take your pick You say your subtitle is out of synch, what subtitle exactly? Can you elaborate a bit? My guess is it's a PAL sub you got off the net, in which case you can load it in SW, input FPS will be 25, and choose ouput FPS as 23. or 29, as said above ;) Then load your VOB in movie preview and check is it in synch now (So long as you let it run without interfering, the timestamps won't get all screwed up). If it isn't , then it would need more work, but I can't much help with what details you gave us.

RE: Sub out of sync DVD

Thanx! I managed to solve the problem. The subtitle was beginning before the first sync point in the DVD version of the movie(I suppose it was adjusted to a divx version of the movie) and I adjusted the delay. Now it works fine:) BTW, are there any sub tool that can handle VOBs with seeking? (if SW can't, I suppose there isn't.)

I think it's more to do with mpeg2 parsing than SW itself (if I don't talk total crap, VDMod has these problems with VOBS too); you can seek to a certain extent, but at some stage and after tweaking I did notice wrong timestamps on the VOB; I guess I should report it in the Urusoft forum huh? ;) There is an option in it to use an external player for preview though, you can use that.
