Sounds like you have "wait for note" set to on. On your transport turn it off. Page 184 PT Reference guide if you are not sure which one to turn off (it looks like a midi symbol on the transport)

Thanks a lot, Undertaker-that was it. I haven't used midi much with PT, and I was totally stumped. Thanks for taking the time to answer what is most likely a very dumb question. edwardo
