It is just me or should my new macbook be able to handle more than 4 tracks of hybrid and one instance of reason running 1 (yes ONE) voice? I keep getting "you are running out of CPU power" even though I'm at 1024 samples, and 90% CPU usage in the hardware menu. Any help? I have 1gb of ram, pro tools 7.1.1 Cheers Joe EDIT: Just did the DAVEC I test cos I thought it would be helpful. At 1024 samples, I made 48 Audio Tracks and 48 Aux. I didn't go any further. Cheers!
I didn't try to go any further past 48 + 48 but I think I could have. Yes 4 separate instances of Hybrid, it doesn't SEEM too intensive but then again I could be wrong. I have the Intel patches for everything I need them for, but what is cs2? Cheers Joe

increasing your RAM might help. although 4 instances does seem low anyway, the one place where you're going to see a performance increase out of a RAM addition with DAWs is in softsynths. is your RAM a matched pair as well? matched pairs can improve performance, marginally. is your macbook core duo or core 2 duo? the core 2 duos technically aren't PT qualified yet, and there may be issues. could be related to that.
The ram is all stock so its gotta be matched right? And it's only a core duo, the core duo 2's came out about a month after I bought mine sadly. Cheers Joe
Ok cheers guys, this has all been really helpful. I think I'll wait til I get some cash, upgrade the RAM with 2 1gb sticks, then see if any problems continue. Thanks again! Joe
