Ok, last nite I went to see "State of The Union" opening for "Wolfsheim" at the Henry Fonda Music Box in Los Angeles. Wolfsheims first time in America. State of the Union a local LA goth band.... eww..fun goths. Can you say Conformity? anyway.. The opening band was much more entertaining than the headliner(wolfshiem). Really a boring show. I was surprised. So, it has become my worst concert expierience. Best would have to be... Depeche Mode, Single Tour. --- Just curious what some of yours were?
Best ever - Prince at Radio City Music Hall. Worst - Long Island Summer Jam last year at Jones Beach. Took the kids. Lineup was horrendous and performances were awful. Worst was Lisa Marie Presley who, about halfway through her set just dropped the mike to the floor and walked off because everyone in the 5000 seat audience was having a separate conversation instead of listening to her crap. There was also LL Cool J, an egotistical jerk posing as a musician. Jessica Simpson was MC and her dork-***** husband sang a few songs to a recorded backing track while two seedy-looking strippers dry-humped his thighs. It was downhill from there.
hmm... this will come as a surprise, and many will not speak to me again after I admit this, but back in 1985 I saw Frankie goes to Hollywood and it was the best show I have ever seen. Honestly, the energy level was higher than I have ever seen before, and then getting to frolic on stage with a hundred other concert goers was the most unreal thing I have ever done at a concert... literally, ... I was just standing there when suddenly everyone bum-rushed the stage and I just got caught up in it. Next thing me and my girlfriend were up there on the stage with everyone else and nobody cared. The band just kept playing. It was a blast. I saw the Police in 1982(?) on the Ghost in the Machine tour.. the Go-Gos opened up. That was also a phenomenal show. Oingo Boingo was a fantastic show too. I really cant think off-hand the worst show. I dont really go to big concerts very much, so I am usually quite picky about who I choose to see.
Best - Bjork at the Royal Opera House in Chicago - Vespertine tour (Tenacious D gets an honorable mention \m/ ) Worst - Usually forgettable opening acts although I have been dragged to see Metallica POST AJFA and it was pretty bad compared to the old tours I saw them on.
I've been to many good shows... most back in the '70's Springsteen at Madison Sq. Garden about 25 years ago was among the best; surprised me, since I wasn't a fan, and got talked into paying $75 to go. Stones at Madison Sq. Garden, back in about '72... opening act was Stevie Wonder. Great show. Crowded House in SF about 10 years ago was a knockout. Oscar Peterson at Carnegie Hall, also about 25 years ago. Stunning.
