I can't help but notice that the buffer sample sizes are much bigger than the PTLE I have on my Mac. So what is up? It was set to 8192 samples when I installed it, which is worthless for recording. When I moved it to 128, I get a buzzing sound when recording, and it slows down as I increase the buffer size, but does not go away until I hit 1024 samples. I am running: Dell Latitude PII 366 128k Memory Anyone? NP

RE: Ridicu-latency

Monitoring latency in PTFree/Win98 ultimately depends on your sound hardware and associated MME driver. The reason the buffer size can be set as large as 8192 samples is that many devices we tested require that much buffering in order to function correctly. In my experience with MME drivers, 1024 samples of latency is actually pretty good - most require at least 2048. The full version of Pro Tools LE (with a Digi001 or AM3, on either Win98 or Mac) can easily use a buffer of 128 samples, in which case the latency is minimal or inaudible. Eric Day DAE Engineer
