problems with tdm-mix61 osx10.2.8 midi and softsyn

I concur with howardk. Had nothing but crashes in a brand new mirro door dual G4 1.25. I lose midi contact with my midi interfaces very regulary ( once every 10 minutes) or when trying to play a lot on notes while running a session that already contains midi an audio data. I have tried 2 different interfaces: an older MTPAV serial with a Geethree stealth and a midiman 2x2 USB interface. After uninstalling and reinstalling the appropriate software, flushing caches and throwing away preferences I get the same problems as described above. Hung midinotes on restarting protools. When trying to play Softsynths (atmospheres, stylus) will often deepcrash the protools app (not even a crashlog window). PT just dissapears and will not startup until a cold cpu reboot. I cannot understand how this is supposed to work. I have tried everything, read up on all the related and unrelated threads i could find but no luck. At least i know I am not alone.

Hi, We don't support the Geethree stealth port under OS X this could be a large part of your loss of communication problems and your crashes. Try removing the stealth port from the system and see how it goes from there. Thanks, Digidesign Tech Support

I tried that. the problem exists with or without the stealthport. Even with the midisport 2x2. It is so frustrating I cannot get any work done, PT is definitely the problem since I can reproduce the error in it, but not in other apps. Please advise

RE: problems with tdm-mix61 osx10.2.8 midi and softsyn

this is what's on the compatability page: MIDI Both USB and serial MIDI interfaces work effectively with Pro Tools. Serial MIDI interfaces require either a Mac serial port or a qualified modem-to-serial port adapter. Digidesign currently supports the GeeThree Stealth Port for G4 - PCI Video (Yosemite), GeeThree Stealth Port for G4 - AGP Video (Sawtooth), Stealth Port for Dual Processor G4s, or Griffin Technology gPort (G4 PCI graphics) or g4Port (AGP graphics) installed in the modem port (thereby not using a PCI slot). When using the GeeThree products with OS 9.0.4, version 1.0.3 or higher of the Stealth Port extension is required, available here: It doesn;t really make any mention of the limitation of support to only os9. I wish you (Digi) would update that info so it is more clear.
