Not to get into a Linux vs. Windows pissing match (I use and see lots of value in both), Windows XP uses the NTFS as its default filesystem, which is a journaled filesystem and provides similar features to Reiser, etc. Linux is great in the server room, but it won't be able to take the place of Windows on the desktop until many more hardware companies either write Linux drivers or open up their specifications so that people can write their own drivers.
