Apparently my V70 (MY2005) is supposed to have a subwoofer harness already fitted and tucked away in the spare wheel well. I've heard this from the person I bought the sub from, and from Volvo UK. The trouble is, I can't find it .... VUK have told me what I should be looking for (in terms of type of connector and number/colour of wires attached to it) but there's no sign of it. I've looked in the spare wheel well and behind the two panels at the sides of the boot - nothing. I e-mailed Volvo back to tell them this, and their response was pretty much "go and ask a dealer, and stop bothering us". :( Can anyone tell me, for definite, whether my car should in fact have this harness fitted? And if it hasn't, what's the part number of the harness I need to get?

Hi Gareth, The connector you are looking for is, on my '04 V70, taped next to the plug for the tow bar wiring on the rear wall in the spare wheel compartment. Looks to have two thick red wires and approx five or six other thinner ones. As far as I know it is part of the car and not available seperately but I could be wrong. Paul.
Hi Paul. That's the odd thing - the wiring loom that runs across the rear bulkhead of the car in the spare wheel well is clearly visible, but there aren't any connectors (sub, towbar or anything) branching off it. I've had a feel along it in case there's something tucked away behind it, but with the exception of a couple of wires that branch off to somewhere else in the car there's nothing at all branching off that loom. I think I might need to take it to a dealer and get them to have a look ...
Hi Gareth, In that case you have a very late'05 car in which they changed the REM (rear electronic module) with these the tow bar wiring plugs directly into the REM so perhaps the sub accessory kit does likewise. If it does the wiring harness will come with the sub kit and will obviously be different from the earlier versions. Paul.

Sounds like that might be the case - the only confusing thing is that my car was registered in March '05, so it's hardly a late '05 model ... I think the best solution might be to just go to a dealer and say "here's the car ... here's the sub ... make them talk to each other!". ;)
Try a cpuple of things: You may be able to locate the installation instructions for the sub there. Failing that are more complex one.... (Page 3) Part of what you are looking for is also hidden behind the D pillar. Failing that, one of the other guys on this board was considering a factory sub. If they go ahead and get the kit - I am sure there would be some instructions included - if you know what I mean? Failing that - yes, try and annoy a dealer... Good luck.
