Is there an "in the box" way of recording a song from iTunes into Reaper? For example like Reaper recording the outputs of my soundcard, without actually physically routing my outputs to inputs with cables? I need to figure out a way to get protected iTunes files into Reaper for practicing/transcription purposes. TIA!
My post at the link below gives an indirect way of doing this. Of course I never do this and can't condone this method. I just read about it somewhere ;) Pete

jamester, Have you tried converting them to .mp3s? I know you used to be able to 'burn' them to CD and then re-import them as .mp3s, not sure if this has been 'buggered' up by iTunes. Might be worth a shot. EDIT: Pete's a little faster than I am!
Hi Jamester, Foobar2000 should be able to do what you want. Grab a copy from You'll also need to get their ASIO component in order to use ReaRoute. Once it's installed, select "ASIO: ReaRoute ASIO" as the Output device in Foobar's preferences, and select ReaRoute 1+2 as the input to your Reaper track, then record away. Cheers, Malcolm.
Google "iDump"... It allows you to copy the content of your iPod over to your hard disk. I just got it at the advice of my son to copy stuff from one pod to another. So far, so good! D

Couldn't you use something like Audacity and just record your "stereo mix?" I know it's not Reaper, but I figure it's close to what you want to do. I've done this in the past (recording streaming music and such), but I haven't done it with anything besides on-board sound. I'd try it first with your regular interface and if that doesn't work, I guess you could manually change audio devices in the Windows control panel. Good luck.
