Hi, I seem to be able to rip and copy main movie files thanks to the help I have received on this forum ( cheers guys ) But I have ripped and stripped Panic room region 1 but it comes out at 4,927,766,528 bites. Will I need to ReMpeg to a lower bitrate so The movie fits on a 4.7gb disc. I have backed up 4 movies now as a "newbie " and this is the first real obstacle I have hit. Please advise me what to do. Sorry I havn't been on the forum for a couple of weeks I have been in disputed with BT broadband and havn,t been able to get online. regards Darren:confused:

Yes, if you don't want to split it into 2 discs, you will need to re-encode it. The best way to do this is described in this guide:

Thanks for the advice....BUT !!!!! I only want to keep the main movie. What is the best way to just lower the bitrate of the main movie files. If I use rempeg i get no sound... from a post i have just read higher up on the forum it says you have to extract the audio track seperately. Is there a syncronisation problem when the files are re-muxed? regards Darren

Did you re-encode with Rempeg and have a.m2v file?In that case just remux your.m2v videostream in IfoEdit according to the guide(simple).Or if yo want to re-author with something like Spruce-up,you need to extract the.ac3 audio file wich is easiest with VobEdit. And you don't have to worry about syncronisation if you are backing up any commercially produced dvd-the audio file is timestamped to sync perfectly with the video.

RE: Panic Room ( superbit )

Have re-encoded to m2v using ReMpeg2 reducing bitrate by 20%. copied the VIDEO_TS.VOB and the VTS_01_0.VOB . corrected VTS Sectors and burned to disc using Primo Prazzi DVD. DvD works perfect !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What i want to know is...if i copy a very small vob file. can i rename this to use as the menu files in future dvd backups.? ( I ask this as i know the files have to be there to play in a standalone dvd player, but they dont actually play do they ? ) Is this a stupid question ? Thanks everyone for all your help. regards Darren
