I have created a VCD using DVD2SVCD and TMPGenc instructions combination. The result when i play the output bin/cue files is a movie that after about 5 mins playtime (about the length of the opening credits) the audio track is approximatley 2 mins ahead of the movie. Plus the video is running 1 frame at a time and changing once avery 15 seconds approximately. The movie wont play at all on my VCD player. It can play burnt VCDs (PAL) that i have created before ie with DVDx, however this is the first time i have used extra utilities like TMPG) My System - encoding on Duron 1g, 512mb ram, 7200rpm drive. Win XP (but i burn the cd on a - P3-550, 512mb ram, 5400rpm drive) I also have a multisystem VCD 2.0 player. DVD Source : NTSC 29.97, 4:3, no region. ( i am in australia so i normally do PAL stuff) "dvd2svcd_log.txt", "Avisynth_Script_file.avs", "dvd2svcd.ini" are all included in the attached TXT file. My previous attempt on this job, i checked the box to "NTSC to PAL" and I got a result that seems ok but when i play back on PC, the images when moving have a quite large Zig Zag outline. this reminds me of the effect when using Gknot and "swap field order"is used to correct but much worse. any assistance given is appreciated. Zed

Best to post your DVD2SVCD_Log.txt file using cut and paste don't attach. The Zig Zag lines sound like interlacing. Many times you won't see this on a TV since most TV's (I know NTSC is) are interlaced too. So the interlacing is not noticable. Mark

You should read the Q+A whenever you have a problem before posting. This contains many of the answers you seek. Q24: My audio and video are not synced A: This rarely happens. The most common reason is when a DVD have been ripped with an external ripper (like Smartripper). Always us internal routines when possible. (In the new DVD2SVCD versions, you can select "Rip Only" and convert the ripped vob files later). Another reason could be that a trailer is as the first chapter on the DVD (like Swordfish). This may not be the cause, but it's a starting point. We don't support outside rippers unless the two included do not work for some reason. Mark

stop press:-) theres more. the VCD i made was converted into 2 bin/cue image files. i only checked part 2, but now i have checked both Part 2 of the conversion, plays a perfect movie but no sound Part 1, repeat of initial problem, has audio added, but is ahead of audio by abou 2min, once we are about 5 mins into the movie, and only displays one frame per every 15 seconds or so. i fnd this behaviour not logical? any ideas.

1)Did you try playing the SVCD's on your computer using WinDVD or PowerDVD instead of just the standalone? 2)If you still have the bbmpeg_Muxed_file_???_.mpg play that in WinDVD or PowerDVD. 3)If you still have the ripped VOB's play them in WinDVD or PowerDVD. If 1 and 2 are bad and 3 is OK try this. Re-Rip the video, but this time bring up the chapter view by clicking on the time shown on the conversion tab. Look for a "0" length chapter at the beginning of the DVD. If you see one uncheck it and start your encode over. Once we can narrow down where the problem starts to show itself we can start to work on particular sections. Never use Windows Media Player to test these Mpg's. It's unreliable. Mark

I will look at it more later, but I never said to play the IFO. I said to play the VOB. You need PowerDVD 4 or WinDVD to do this. Does this video happen to have a "Formatted to fit your screen" segment in the beginning? Or for that matter any kind of silent info screen right up front? Mark
