Moving Multiple Regions?

MessageAuthor

i'm not sure if this has been adressed elsewhere, but just in case: I would love to be able to select multiple regions as well (without a workaround) also I would like to know if anybody has any ideas how i can select 2 regions and swap them..(similar to playlists, i guess) eg. lets say I have r1=verse r2=bridge r3=hook .... r16=outro and I want to select r2+r16 and switch them (make them exchange positions; so the new order would be r1 r16 r3 ...r2) to see how it sounds. Any ideas? This would be a huge help for me when sketching or outlining song ideas.

RE: Moving Multiple Regions?

Hey guys,I've just learned about regions and hit this problem! I have 8 regions of 4 bars each, each bar with a slightly different tempo, so it's all tempo marked. But, I started at bar zero, not leaving myself any space at the beginning and I want to move the whole lot forward by four bars, I've tried every key combo I can think of but to no avail...and I tried the same workaround mentioned above before coming here ;-) Any help would be appreciated!

RE: Moving Multiple Regions?

I tried the following for quick moves: First making time selection from start of the timeline to whatever length the move has to be. Then using action Time selection: Insert empty space at time selection (moving later items). This seems to work even if the items are starting at zero line, but I had some variable results when trying with different time signature/tempo changes.

Man this is annoying, here I was all excited about regions, and now I find I can't move multiple regions at once. booo. Gonna try the region within a region workaround though.

RE: Moving Multiple Regions?

Hi guys, Im sorry but I don't seem to be able to create such "container" region. I thought a second row showing me "parents" regions would appear in the region line, but it doesn't, nothing appears in region manager either, so it doesnt seem to create the "super"region at all. Any idea ? (i just realised i used 3 different names for what we talk about :))

RE: Moving Multiple Regions?

I know this is old topic but i have solution. Just change mini regions by removing them and change this area into one big region as larger melodical structure if plan use multi time - then copy. If need elements of this leave bunch of mini regions somewhere too. I think the best feature in reaper in this should be region over regions - another higher region area which work like clip for lower regions. Another way to work around is to use parent track and rename their area of placed item simply as a region. region over region idea - [===========BEGIN==========] <==== uppper region holder for lower] [=====intro====][====beat=====] <==== standard region anyway the best would be this as addon: moving content of parent folders (children folders area) on area of media item in parent folder which should work as a clip for content of children folders - and copied media item in parent should copy too elements in children on this area and pool them by mark on media item in parent folder -if something change than in previous copy - unpool. This could be the best extra form of region - actually it is but fake its not pooling and NOT following media item in parent - not recognize changes in envelopes, media items on area - need to use manually. This simple method in my vision makes multi layer regions. Anyway if someone will apply this for all cost this must be new type of pooling - symbols or something - little color square/triangle at items etc. or different type of media item - visually which work like region.

RE: Moving Multiple Regions?

Waking up this thread, as I'm trying to more several regions markers at the same time, but without moving audio, is it possible? If yes, how? Explanation why: I have an entore song with its parts marked using regions. Intro, Verse, solo, etc .. each part is a region. But I edited the song to modify the solo part length sorter and moved the following audio to the end of the solo to avoid an empty part. So now, all my regions after the solo are wrong... That's why I want to move several regions markers together, without moving the audio. Hopefully someone knows the trick, as this is not the first time I'm in this situation, and probably not the last...

Also here: I added this script onto one of the scripts to remove original selected regions after pasting them, so install it also Archie_Markers; Delete region in time selection.lua it just runs this code at the end of the Paste script: Code:
