Audio Interface works on one PC but not on other

Hey Guys, My audio interface Tascam US-1800 works on my laptop but not on the desktop. Both are installed with the Windows 7 Home Premium with the same updates. Both have similar config (both are i5). Infact the laptop has more stuff installed on it than the desktop as I use the desktop only for music. The interface works flawlessly on the laptop but on the desktop it records with pops and crackles. I have the same driver installed on both PCs for the interface. Reaper version is the same as well. Any ideas why it might be doing this and how I can troubleshoot? Thanks!

increase buffer setting?

Are you sure you're plugging into a usb2 port? Some desktops have some usb1 ports that will give interfaces fits...

So it works...kinda? Check buffer settings, background programs, USB2, ASIO settings. What about your HD? Is it external? My Tascam interface doesn't work well if I have another USB device on the same bus...and sometimes all the USB ports will share the same bus. Also, some onboard USB chips act funny with Tascam units. I had to install a PCI USB2 card into my desktop to get it working correctly. Has it ever worked with the desktop?

All Tascam USB interfaces have been problematic with all computer models. I'd avoid them like the plague. Get a Focusrite. I know this doesn't help your problem much but I've read TOO much about those interfaces in doing research...
