Virtual Keyboard Usage while Tweaking?

Often times I'm lazing on the bed and decide to tweak some synths on the laptop. :P Now in Ableton, I could keep triggering notes as I'm tweaking using the laptop keyboard as I tweak. In Reaper you have to open up the Virtual Keyboard. The issue I'm having is that, when you tweak a knob, the keyboard loses focus and your main shortcuts get activated. Is there a way to continue playing while editing the synth even if the Virtual Keyboard is not in focus?

Right-click the virtual keyboard and click 'send all keyboard input to vkb' I have this set up as a macro so it's on automatically whenever the vkb is visible. Steve
