PT LE 6.1 fails to open

MessageAuthor

First of all, I apologize my lack of skills to write correctly in English. I've been using an MBOX with PT LE 6.1 in a very stable manner in my G4/800 768 Mb, MacOS X (10.2.6) since it is release. After several hours in the iTunes session yesterday I closed it and tryed to open the PT LE 6.1 to make a voice-over session in my studio but now it insist no to function. Every attempt is followed with the message: "another application is already using the Digidesign hardware -1133" and "could not complete your request because: MIDI filter". There is no similar or possible application opened at the same time. I've trying to figure it out with no success. Right before notice the problem the last thing that I did was to install a new program called StickyBrain that Apple's .Mac service is offering to subscribers on their site. I already unistall it. Also I take the followed steps: restart on System 9 to make the recording session with the PT LE 5.2.1 and it runs smoothly, in fact in a very fast way. So I turn again to the MacOS X to reopened the PT LE 6.1 but it fails. So, I decide to run the update combo installer of the MacOS 10.2.6 and on the fly I also reinstall the the Digidesign Core Audio 1.2, recheked the whole system, unpluged the USB cable and nothing. BTW, I do not have any MIDI port in use or a piece of equipment pluged into it. Can you help me? Sincerely, Silvio Vasconcellos

RE: PT LE 6.1 fails to open

I had the exact same error the other night. Nothing changed....really....out of the blue. I unplugged my Presonus FIREStation from the Firewire port....now I'm getting DAE errors -1150 or some such.... The -1133/MIDI Filter error was happening as soon as I started the computer and launched PTLE.....the only thing I found in the Process Viewer was the Presonus mLAN Server service...isolating the FIREStation cured that one but the DAE error has me stumped. Uninstalling PTLE and reinstalling did not work....updating to 6.1 didn't work either. I may end up doing a fresh install of OS X on a spare partition.

RE: PT LE 6.1 fails to open

It's an odd situation because I already did what you suggest possibly in a wrong way because nothing has change, yet. I used to listen my mp3 files in iTunes through the MBOX with the alert sound sistem played on the G4 speaker. Now I remember that I double click a mp3 file at the system finder which is a terrible mistake. After that the PT LE 6.1 refused to be open. I've reading some intersting messages at the Apple's support page related to Core Audio and it's role on Mac OS X. I'm affraid that to be succeeded I'll need to take the hardest decision of doing a clean install of the whole system and so on. Unless that someone here has a different solution to my problem. Thank you! Silvio

RE: PT LE 6.1 fails to open

Interesting that you mention Stickybrain as I too just installed it last night and when I opened Pro Tools I got the same messages as you did. I deleleted everything I could related to Stickybrain (thought I saw some itunes sound files related to Stickybrain) and then proceeded to try reinstall of 6.1. That did not work so I reinstalled 6. That did not work so I deleted everything I could find related to to 6.0 and then did a reinstall of both 6 and 6.1. That worked. I now how my Pro Tools back after a stickybrain experience! Although I have no proof this is what caused the problem.....I would caution anyone to consider whether or not you need a stickybrain or not?
