How would you guys reproduce this effect?

I'm attempting to do a cover version of New Order's "Shellshock". I'm a one man band at this point so I'm doing all the vocals myself. I'm trying to reproduce an effect at the beginning of this song where there's a repeated chant of "Shellshock". I've recorded myself singing it, then slapped on Reapitch and put in a couple shifters 1-2 octaves lower and a couple 1-2 octaves higher, but it doesn't sound close to the effect. How would you guys reproduce it? Here is the link to the video: It occurs at about 1:07 in the video. Thanks. Dean.

best way to do it is to get a few other folks to sing it with you. um, n.o.'s bernie was never the greatest singer so don't worry 'bout finding "real" singers. barring that option,.... to attempt it yourself: for each note of the sung harmony (root, 3rd, 5th, whatever), do a regular pass, then... drop the pitch of THE PROJECT (master slider) a half step and do a pass. then do the same a half step up. put the protect back at regular pitch and you should have 9 very full sounding tracks which you can now bury in a ridiculous new order approved 80's reverb. useless trivia: i worked with new order on "confusion."

I've been using a 'similar' effect on my guitar since the 80s. It was almost mandatory to use a 'chorus' effect pedal back then, but I didn't like the modulation you get (the shimmering), so when I got hold of my first pitch-shifter (on the advice of a friend 'in the trade') I started using a +0.3 (0.3 of a semitone) pitchshift instead... Job done. No modulation AND I knew the secret to a certain 'trademark sound'. For a short time, there were only three people with this sound - me and the two guitarists making a living from it.
