The Studio Projects VTB-1 sounds good, it's about $130, useful little box.

Yeah, go for the VTB-1. The variable tube is a great feature. Sorry IV, but I've never been impressed by anything Bellari. It really is low-end. To give it an 8 in sound quality is REALLY insulting Avalon. I'll give it a 3 just on reputation alone. Stay away from those little Presonus units too. Noisey little buggers they are.

Presonus Tube Pre is pretty decent for vocals. Its 99 bucks.

the vtb-1 it has a clean signal and/or a dirty tube vibe to add that cheap sound for vocals. a good clean pre would be the 2 channel dmp-3 $140.00 or even the Rane ms1b single channel $130.00

I've got two presonus blue tube stereo pres and the 19" rack mount I'll sell you for $200. That's four total pres. They are in perfect condition. I'm saving up for an ISA 428.
