Howdy, fellow Oasys user. From what I gather, the latency setting on the Oasys only affects Oasys CPU based effects, so as long as you're using DSP effects, it should have no bearing on session latency.

Hello! Can the Oasys card be installed on a separate computer and be used via optical with the Digi001 on another computer? Would latency be an issue? Just curious, I am out of PCI slotsbut have an extra B&W G3. Thanks! Brian
Unclemurray...how do you know which effects are CPU based effects and which are DSP based effects. I've never experienced a noticeable latency processing PTLE tracks with the OASYS, but I'm just making sure I have everything optimized correctly. Thanks again.

I use 2 Oasys cards, one in my G4/400 and the other one in my 8600/G4/400. They both works perfectly. I didn't notice any latency. The only time I had to adjust the latency in Oasys was when I wonted to use other apps through it (Reason, etc...). Oasys 1 (8600) SPDIF Out to Oasys 2 (G4) SPDIF In. Oasys 2 ADAT out/In into PTLE out/In. (In the same computer - G4...) Oasys 1 sync to Internal, Oasys 2 sync to SPDIF and PTLE sync to Optical. Works great, no latency....except the one in PTLE. I use Low latency monitoring when I'm programming. Then I "transform" all MIDI in Audio, and I have no problems while mixing....
Are the FX really that good in the Oasys. I've been playing around with the reverbs and they are really hard to set up, I like FX with minimum controls not 50 knobs for a reverb! Has anyone succeeded in dialing in any mint reverb settings? And can you then save it? What else can I do with this thing. I've been using NI Battery to program drums. Can that be done on the Oasys? Thanks, Steve
Dead River...are you using the O-verb XL? that one does have quite a few knobs, but there are a total of 8 reverbs on the unit, some have less knobs and are easier to configure and they all sound quite good. Also, You can use the OASYS as a hardware sampler...version 2.0 of the software allows 24bit stereo sample playback. Although I've yet to find an app that will convert standard sample bank formats into one the OASYS can easily import. So you'd have to load your own samples into it and save them as banks...but still...no CPU usage!

I am not using the "sampler part" of Oasys, though. I found Reason perfect for that job.....
