At the end of the day, "a profile" is just "a profile"... Given your source, only you can really decide what "profile" setting yields the best results for you. You could even decide to use the "Maximum Definition" setting. Which allows you total control over Recode2's audio and video settings! Where "profiles" are useful is if say, you're a novice who wants to generate encodes that are compatible with an hardware device ;) Cheers

Thanks for the Detailed reply. For my use which is strictly to view Movies with 2 ch audio off my Laptop and possible on a future Portable device or my PDA, Standard will more than suffice. I still prefer Xvid it's a tad sharper, but for the speed Nero cannot be Beat.

This is why I networked my home and have a Media server serving my Nero files to my 3 client PCs... No need to worry about compatibility :)
