RE: Re: OSX and 5.x

PT 5.x will only run on OS 9 and PT 6.x will only run on OS X. So, yeah, either install 9.2.2 for 5.x or get the 6.x upgrade. so many numbers....

RE: Re: OSX and 5.x

My understanding is that the new G4s sold after January 1 only run OSX, and that you cannot boot them off of 9.X. Thus the only way to run PTLE on them is to use OSX, and you'll have to get the 6.x upgrade. I'm in a similar situation - bought a brand new dual 1.42 G4 Mac with 1MB RAM and I can't buy a 002 until Digi ships it with 6.0.2 that lets it run under OSX. At least in your situation you can get the 6.x upgrade easily from a dealer or Digi to make the 001 work. One of these days the vaporware will arrive and I'll be able to use my ridiculously overpriced Apple hardware for something...

RE: Re: OSX and 5.x

Before you do any thing drastic try this. Go to the apple menu, select system preferences. From here, on the very top row choose startup disk. You should see several options. One should say Mac OS 9.2.x on <your hard drive name>. select this and choose restart. You'll see a warning message. Just click save and restart. You should then boot up into OS 9. If you ever want to change back, just choose startup disk from the control panels in OS 9. This should do the trick! Tyler

RE: Re: OSX and 5.x

I bought a mac g4 and it already has OSX installed. I've had my Digi001 sitting in a closet until I could afford the mac. The 001 has the old 5.x? software. Will OSX run the older software or do I need to either upgrade to Protools 6.x or downgrade my OS. What is required to upgrade to 6.x? I'm new to Protools and have no idea what I should do...please help!!!
