Hey! The great products of Steinberg can import all sorts of video files, but "Pro" Tools does only accept QT. So how do you guys convert DV files to Quick Time in order to work with video in "Pro" Tools?
Man, That's a CPU and RAM hog. It takes me about five minutes to get the whole thing loaded up. Runs CPU at 100% the whole time. and uses 400Megs of RAM, just sitting there. It took me almost twenty minutes to import a three minute QT video. Though it's not a couple of years old, My Athlon XP 2000+ running at 1.67GHz and my 768Mb of PC2100 DDR RAM still provide some good horsepower, for most everything--except it seems Avid Free.
There must be something going on with your system. I have an Athlon 2400 XP, and just imported a 1 1/2 hour video. Works like a charm. And rendertimes with video can be quite long......
Karel, Will Avid Free DV and PT LE 6.4 co-exist or is there a problem with them being on the same machine? Thanks,

I'd be very surprised if there was a problem. Mind you, if you've tweaked your XP settings for PT that in some way that affects Avid's functioning... All my stuff is on seperate bootable partitions, so no chance of clashes here. Try it, it's free! I'm sure it'll be fine. Just make sure to set a system restore point (as you always do... )
Thanks Karel, much appreciated. Of note, no way would I mess with System Restore, I turn that off and leave it off. I just Ghost an Image of my OS before I load something like Avid Free DV. It doesn't work, Ghost back and all is well. Cheers,
