Help!! New Mac & 001

Hey guys, Can anyone help me? I'm trying to set up the Digi with my new 933 mhz G4. After I install PTLE software, the OMS Software, and the PTLE demos sessions and try to launch the demos I get an error message reading "Unable to create DAE deck". Also (and this may be the root of my problems), the digi literature says to configure the internal setting on the Mac memory a certain way, but every time I try and open the memory icon in control panel Classic launches and then gives me an error message reading "classic cannot support". Last question (sorry): Should I partition my hard drive and run OS9 on one side with the Digi and OSX on the other with everything else (i.e. itunes, iphoto, imovie, etc.)?? And if so, how do I do it? Thanks very very much!

Joel are you running LE on MAC os X? if so that's going to be a problem. if so, first thing you need to do is start up is OS 9.2. Check the book on how to do this. Classic mode in OS X doesn't really wok (though it looks like its trying to load it) its been a while since i installed LE, But if you use OS 9.2 and the DAE deck message still shows, check the FAQ section. I believe they tell you what to do. I have a G4 867, and it came with OS 9.2 on one startup disk, and X on another. I just have my LE and masterlist on that start up, and record to that drive. People say you should have a partition for just audio, but it will work fine without it. MANOWAR

joel, don't mix OS X or OS X with classic with PTLE. Install a new 9.1 or 9.2 (some think there's problem still with PTLE and 9.2,other s say it's okay?). Use this new 9.1 or 9.2 exclusively for PTLE. After you install OS 9 you can always boot into OS X from the starup control panel. Same with OS X. The Mac will remember which OS you last used and boot from that. Good luck.

quote:
Install a new 9.1 or 9.2

This is not necessary, and incorrrect. See the Compatibility Documents. Although the 3 new models announced in January have not yet completed testing, you would follow the same guidelines and Mac OS instructions that are listed for the 2001 "Quicksilver" macs.

RE: Help!! New Mac & 001

I got it working finally!! I was running what I thought was OS9, but it was actually Classic in OSX. It seems to be working now, though I have another two questions. 1) When I play an instrument into any of the inputs, it seems that the track must be record enabled before I can actually hear any sound coming through. Is this correct? I was trying to set input levels and realized that I couldn't until I enabled the track for recording. 2) How do you cut and paste entire tracks if you wanted to double something up (i.e. a vocal)? Thanks again for the help; I definitely appreciate it!!
