Simple vs Advanced

In the encoder there are some options available. "Use Pro Features (use only i Divx 5 Pro is installed) "bi-directional enc. " "gmc" the first option (use Pro features) is unchecked, but the next two are checked. Will I produce an MPEG-4 Simple Profile movie or an MPEG-4 Advanced Profile Movie? Basically I'd like to know if there are any hardware DVD players can that can play my Divx Movies. Thanks!

If you use basic functionality of the codec you'll get MPEG4 Simple profile streams. If you use GMC, QPel and Bframes you'll get MPEG4 Advanced Simple Profile MPEG 4 Advanced profile is H.264 but is still in heavy developement. To keep the max compatibility I suggest you to use SIMPLE PROFILE only.

Uses only BFrames. GMC and QPEl are buggy (I read that somewhere in this forum...)
