my sounds sound like crap...

so i'm just getting into this and created my track using the built in ReaSamplOmatic5000 and some free wav samples i download off the net. while i can thumb through the sample via my desktop folder and hear what they sound like, once i do the same through the ReaSamplOmatic5000 everything sounds like condensed clips that bare no resemblance to what they actually are. can anyone tell me why?

The "Media Explorer" in Reaper has a preview function, have you tried using that? Look under the view menu and click on 'Media Explorer' and give it a go. You might want to consider spending a little time with the Reaper User Guide. Get it here: . Enjoy. :cool:

oh poop,... figured it out. i can't just tap the trackpad on my macbook pro. it has to physically click and i have to hold it down or only a partial sample will play. that's kinda inconvenient. i'll see if i can't change that.
