Because it won't work...bit-slitting technology basically encodes one high-resolution channel across two "normal" channels. If you were to apply an effect to those two channels and put them back together you wouldn't wind up with an effected high-resolution track. Also, it should be noted that if you were to use the 001 in this type of scenario, you wouldn't be able to mix in the box, and you'd only get four tracks in and out. In other words, you'd basically turn your 001 into a four-track recorder. Not sure why you'd want to do that. But you could. -Duardo
