If I rotate the steering wheel I hear a slight sound of a spring stretching. What is this an can it do any harm?

theres a metal contact that runs round the weel for the horn, wich is spring loaded, i am not sure if they still used that idea on yours but if that bit goes, chances are its just te spring making the contact.. it would explain the noise

I believe there is a spring too, which handles the turning off of the indicator when driving straight after the corner is made and the steering wheel is turned back again. Can the sound possibly come from this spring?

Not sure If I have the same problem but I get a sort of squeek sound, bit like a high pitched rusty door hinge, when I turn the wheel to the left. It seems to lessen the further I drive but is very noticeable first thing in the morning. Would this be the same problem do you think ?
