Should I take the plunge??

I've been thinking about getting a second monitor for my Pro Tools system. I'm concerned, however, about compatibility (power supply not being powerful enough). I would get a matrox 400 or 450. That seems to be the best reading prior posts and using search. I have an athlon 1900+ with a 300w power supply. It works without a flaw and is very stable. Should I rock the boat?? Thanks Philippe Dumas

RE: Should I take the plunge??

Philippe, I have a P3 700 running two monitors one on an AGP the second on a PCI. As far as power goes, I think you will be fine. I'm running dual Nokia 17 monitors CRT not LCD. I ran 4 monitors on a Compaq Deskpro EN 350 on Win2k. Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions. Sherman

MMortal - just out of curiousity - how many tracks do you get on the dave_c test? I'm curious because I have a very similar setup.

I have the matrox g450 dualhead, and i love it dearly. I would hate it when i had to go back to one monitor. Take the plunge, you wont regret it. You hear some people about no dual-monitor support for ptle, but this is really only a minor hassle. Hard to describe, easy to see when you have your dual setup, and it'll cost you only about 30 seconds a day extra anyway... I dont think you have to be concerned about the power consumption...
