Midi playing 2 synths at once

Hi guys this is my first post i wanted to know how do i stop my midi keyboard from playing multiple vsts at once. Well tchnically a vst and reason rewired in. Also every now and then a note will hold in reason and the vst im using(just the ReaSynth for now). I'm pretty sure its something basic and has something to do with the routing of the midi but im a tad slow so I'll ask the forum.

RE: Midi playing 2 synths at once

On Track Control Panel: in>MidiInput>"The input from your controller">"The Channel you want to control your VSTi" You have to use different MIDI channel for every instrument you use. For example:MIDI channel 1 for REASON, MIDI channel 2 for VSTi

RE: Midi playing 2 synths at once

Thanks for the help guys but im still confused. I've found out that when i rewire Reason it takes up 16 midi chanels. So playing in reason doesnt play my the VST but the reverse is not true(hence my original question). Granted it doesnt record in(and if it did i noticed reaper gives you the options on tracks to keep) and i can mute the reason channel as work around. Also im not the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to midi. Has any one rewired reason routed the midi and used vsts.
