"Gspot" for DVDs ?

Didn't know where to post this Is there a utility like GSpot for DVDs? Ie; a utility which can give you the resolution, framerate, audio stream(s) information, subtitle(s) etc? Much like the information that DVD Decrypter gives in it's "Stream Information.txt" file for example. A command-line utility or COM interface etc would be the best, or a GUI that allows automated export for external parsing.

RE: "Gspot" for DVDs ?

I don't know anything about such a project, but my way to find this things out normally is to look on the backside of the DVD-cover... If it is saying PAL there, I know that the fps is 25 and the resolution is 720x576, if it says NTSC, then I know that the fps will be 29.97, either genuinly or with pulldown... The number of audio-streams and subtitle-streams is usually also on there... If I want to find out which bitrate the audio-streams have, I set PowerDVD to "Show Information" on playback... To be honest, I don't think that anybody will develop such a tool, because there are numerous programs available which show you that kind of information, for example DVDDecrypter which you already mentioned or Ifoedit. Since you have to rip the DVD anyway to work with it, I would go with the "Stream Information.txt"...

I most definetly don't want to rip the DVD in order to get hold of the information. A DVD player isn't an option either really, since it cannot export. I want the information as a part of a movie database, therefore the export capabilities. And I don't think I'm not alone in this matter either :)

You can get that info from an IFO, but probably not looking/formatted like you want. You could try VStrip.. VStrip NUL -id:\video_ts\vts_01_0.ifo Will list alot of information about that IFO. If you have a programming streak, it's easy to modify the output into something more useable... Just a thought :) -Nic
